Yes, our consultations are free for smaller projects such as a residential build of a small wall, patio, driveway or repointing. We would listen to your needs and advise if we would provide a free estimate or a chargeable quote. If chargeable, we would advise you of the fee amount. On agreement on fee, we will then provide a quote, listen to your needs and provide expert advice on the cost based on your requirements. If you are happy with our quotation, we will then provide you with a written communication confirming the full details & payment terms, a date for any upfront payment and a start date for the project.

The timeline for any building work can vary significantly depending on the scale and complexity of the project. Larger projects, such as building a new home or adding substantial extensions, may take several months to complete. In contrast, smaller projects, like constructing a small wall or patio, might only take a few days to a week or so.

Weather conditions also play a crucial role. Poor weather can halt progress and extend the agreed timeline.

The availability of materials and labor can further influence the schedule. Supply chain delays or shortages in skilled labor could push back the project. Additionally, unforeseen challenges, such as change requests by the client or waiting for a third party to complete their work before we can start our portion, can extend the timeline.

We will provide you with a timeline estimation that considers all the factors mentioned above.

Builder’s defects liability refers to the period of time after the completion of construction work during which the builder is responsible for rectifying any defects that arise in the building due to faulty workmanship, design, or materials. The defects liability period is 12 months but may vary depending on the terms of the building contract. During this period, the builder is required to remedy any defects that arise, and to ensure that the building meets the specifications set out in the building contract. NHBC’s guarantee for new builds, provides coverage for up to 10 years.

We therefore guarantee new builds for 10 Years and all other services for 12 Months.

Our Payments terms do vary from client to client. Usually for domestic projects, we draft stage payments upon completion. The upfront payment you need to make will depend on the project size and the materials required. For larger projects that involve more resources, the initial instalment will naturally be higher. This upfront payment is essential to cover the cost of ordering materials before we commence the project, ensuring that all materials arrive at the project site on day one. This practice helps us avoid any delays and enables us to start work immediately, providing a smooth and efficient workflow from the very beginning.

After the project starts, we will provide regular updates on our progress to ensure that we stay on track and complete the project on time. For longer projects, we will liaise with you to request additional funds once the initial instalment has covered the work completed and the materials used. This approach helps maintain transparency and ensures that we can continue working efficiently without any delays.

All our work is carried out with full public and employer liability insurance. Our projects are completed by professionally trained personnel who ensure that every job meets the highest standards and specifications. We are required by our insurer to provide Risk assessments & Method Statements for each project.

We are proud to say that we have never had to claim under these policies. However, for your peace of mind, our valid Public & Employers Liability insurance cover can be provided upon request prior to commencing any projects.
